Insulating your home is one of the most effective ways to save money and use less heat.
Without loft insulation up to a quarter of the heat in your home can escape.
If you have less than 60mm of insulation in your loft then you should think about having it topped up.
Insulating your loft could save you £180* a year on your fuel bills.
Cavity Wall Insulation
If your home was built after 1920 it’s likely that your walls will have a cavity between them. Without insulation here a third of your heat can escape through the walls. Cavity wall insulation could save you £140* a year on your fuel bills.
* Savings based on typical three bedroom semi-detached house with gas central heating and no existing insulation.
Solid wall insulation
Solid walls let twice as much more heat escape than cavity walls. Insulating them (either from the inside or outside) could save you up to £490 a year, and keep your home considerably warmer.
Depending on your property and circumstances, Community Energy Plus may be able to offer you free or heavily discounted insulation. You can contact us to find out more.
